• Tororo Municipality lies in the Eastern part of Uganda bordering Western Kenya and serves as the entry and exit point to Uganda. According to the UBOS 2014 population Census, the Municipality has a population of 42,016 (of which 19,852 (47.2%) are male and 22,164 (52.8%) are female). The main economic activity is small scale business and subsistence farming, which employs 2,153 (21.6%) of the population. The main crops grown by farmers in the municipality are maize, yams and millet and there is also livestock farming. The municipality has a tropical monsoon climate with a short dry season, the average annual temperature is 22.4 °C with an average high of 28.7 °C and an average low of 16.2 °C. The average annual precipitation is 1,494 millimetres with the drier and hotter seasons starting in December. With a gently sloping landscape and scattered tree cover amidst built structures, the flood runoff is very high with its main flow ending up into River Aturukuku.
